After a bit of singing and dancing the girls settled down at the table to get on with something. Skye chose Mathletics and Poppy continued with her Victorian lapbook which is looking lovely πŸ™‚

Picked up a good link from Kirsty for Halloween themed graph/mapping work so whilst Skye made a start on that whilst Poppy put in some recorder practice πŸ™‚

Just before lunch I read them the next chapter of Story of the World which we are enjoying very much and has reinforced some of the subjects we have been covering at our historyetc days. Later in the afternoon we decided to make some crystals – only because we have never made them at home before and think that we really should!

Think that they may have overdone the sugar but we’ll see πŸ™‚

More Mathletics, Poppy wrote out my food shopping list for tonight splitting into categories fridge, fruit and veg, cupboard, bathroom and other to make it easier and quicker for me πŸ™‚ They also packed an overnight bag as they are both going to a friends for a sleepover – another step for Pops as this is the first night away in 18 months that hasn’t been with family! πŸ™‚ Fingers crossed it goes well.

Skye looked up the origin of her name to find it means ‘From the Winged Isle’ and is believed to be Gaelic. She then checked Poppy, meaning ‘Red Flower’ and believed to be Old English. She then went on to use the hidden meaning of their names using the numerology calculator. She worked through the calculations and she came out as Contributor – Responsible, careful, conventional and reliable and Poppy’s translated to Inventive – Imaginative, resourceful, eccentric, quiet and thoughtful. They certainly hold some of their characteristics and was a fun exercise πŸ™‚

Time to jump into the car and take the girls to A’s for their sleepover πŸ™‚ After a quick cup of tea and a chat with K, left the girls happily playing. Met Wayne at Tescos to do food shop then home. Watched ‘Changling‘ on dvd which i found rather disturbing but a good film – not one which i would choose to watch again in a hurry though!

Had a text from K to say girls were pumpkin carving and having a great time so I went to bed happy πŸ™‚

Not sure you can overdo the sugar… When we tried it didn’t work well and all the advice we could find online was that it is hard to get enough sugar into the solution to make it work!
