Round up

So much to catch up on!

We’ve had two trips to London over the past couple of weeks. The first was a trip to the Theatre to see Grease.  It was a joint family Christmas present and we were all very excited, well the girls and I were, not sure Wayne was filled with as much excitement!  Had a leisurely walk from Kings Cross into Picadilly – it was a lovely day, very chilly but bright.  Had a wander through China Town, none of us had been before and I found it quite surreal.  There were gorgeous colourful lanterns strung across the narrow streets, not sure if that is a permanent feature or because it was coming up to Chinese New Year.  It was very busy with vans delivery food and the aroma was amazing!!

We arrived at the theatre in good time and took our seats. I was surprised how small the theatre was, its been years since I’ve been to a London Theatre!

Grease was fab! The girls absolutely loved it and are keen to watch another musical 🙂

Caught the tube back from a very packed Piccadilly to King Cross then train back home. We were all exhausted but had a most excellent day!

That evening my sister and hubby arrived as we are having a birthday dinner to celebrate my Dad’s 60th and its also Mums birthday the following day. Dad had no idea and just thought they were popping for a sandwich!

Introduced Jo and Colin to Ticket to Ride so a very late night!

The following morning we were up bright an early to prepare dinner and decorate the room with banners and balloons. Mum and Dad arrived and Dad was very surprised 😀 Had a lovely dinner, Jo and Colin left early evening, watched the last of Merlin Series 1 😦 Mum and Dad left a short while later. Another lovely, but tiring day 🙂

Our second trip to London meant that unfortunately that we had to miss historyetc 😦 however we had a fantabulous day 😀 We had managed to get ourselves free tickets to the Dr Who Experience. We drove down to Olympia and were very surprised that there was no queue at all and so we needn’t have worried about having a ticket but not being guaranteed entry! It was basically a pilot before the launch on 20th Feb so we had a briefing to say that we may experience technical hitches and that any feedback was welcome. The walk-around experience only took about 30 mins but unfortunately there were technical problems with the last part so we were invited to go round for a second time. We were in a bit of a quandary as we didn’t want to overrun on the parking ticket as in doing so would bump charge up from £5 to £15!! We decided to have a wander around the exhibition part which was great and see how long it took them to fix the fault. There were all of the Drs costumes on display along with those of co-stars, the Tardis including the interior of the first ever Tardis and that of David Tennant. K9, Daleks, cybermen and many other ‘monsters’. By this time the technical fault had been fixed and we had just enough time to go through for a second time, thankfully everything went smoothly. So glad we did go again as the final part was an amazing 3D show. Poppy missed it though as she had her eyes closed in fear of the weeping angels who were rather frightening, especially in 3D!!

Very disappointed that i had taken Poppy’s little camera instead of my big one but unfortunately was being very temperamental and so I didn’t manage to get many photos 😦

Managed to get back to the car park with one minute to spare!!

On the way home we popped into ikea picked up a few bits and bobs, including dinner 😉 then home.

An amazing day 🙂

What else………

Our RSPB Birdwatch pack arrived and the girls have made bird feeders and spent a couple of hours birdwatching and recording how many birds visited our garden.

Wayne celebrated his birthday – the girls made a lovely birthday cake 🙂 Had some great pressies, including the second series of Merlin – Woohoo!! 🙂 We are already seven episodes in!

5100713374_15a1d378ef_b latinetc i was feeling under the weather but the girls thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the science on acids and bases, producing some gorgeous colourful results 🙂 Helen did a fab job, again, despite having a migraine 😦

Latin and French for the girls, recorder for Pops. For the art session i mirrored the cityscape we did with Merry & co which worked well for all 🙂

Girls have been very busy baking, red velvet cupcakes, cheese scones, brownies.

We had a lazy sunday pyjama day; the girls spent most of it painting by numbers whilst I bulk cooked dinners for the following week :o) Poppy finished hers which was fantastic and has since spent some of her birthday money on another one 🙂 Skyes was more complicated and is still currently work in progress 🙂

Had a brilliant time at folk dancing with a special display by the Gog Magog Molly Dancers 🙂 Both girls loved it and Skye wants to be a Molly dancer – think it’s the bright clothes and dm’s that attract her 🙂 Unfortunately she needs to grow a bit so maybe in a year or two!

Tick lists still working well – gives the girls freedom to choose and we can keep a check on what we are doing well and what we need to do more of each week. Working hard on mathletics to see if we can whizz through and move them to the next year.

Spent a few days with C which has been good and she seems to be very happy 🙂 Skye and Poppy are over the moon to have another home ed friend in the village!

We managed to pick Poppy up a new (to her) bike and she has been cycling everywhere! Loves it! 🙂

Well, i think that’s most of what we have been up to. Will have to add photos at a later date as I’m behind in that too!!
