Friday Wayne and the girls attended The Wild Place. This week there was lots of coppicing, axing and lopping πŸ™‚ They were also having discussions with Chris the ranger about putting some art onto the old lock up container they have on site which the girls are quite excited about :). They have a great new log cabin type thing for indoor work and other projects which is great πŸ™‚

Friday evening we were busy preparing for our German visitors πŸ™‚ and finally on Saturday morning the family arrived (Dad C, Mum D, big sister C and F πŸ™‚ ) and Poppy met her German sister for the first time πŸ™‚

We had such a lovely weekend with them, they bought us all gifts, gloves for the girls and biscuits for us and a board game for the family which we played on Saturday night πŸ™‚ The weather was fantastic for the whole time they were here so we managed to have a walk around the village soon after their arrival on the Saturday and took a trip into Cambridge on Sunday. We had a coffee in the market square with the sun shining upon us and then after a bit of dithering decided to take out a couple of punts πŸ™‚ The 4 girls wanted their own and challenged the adults to a race πŸ™‚ Skye did brilliantly for the kids team πŸ™‚ C decided being ‘punter’ wasn’t for him and swapped with D who was indeed punting champion πŸ™‚ I had a go but was rubbish :/ Going up river was ok, coming back, we were against the current. The girls struggled a bit getting back! After building up an appetite, we went to Tatties for lunch, having discovered that big sister C had tried jacket potatoes before and thought they were so delicious we thought it would be the ideal place to eat. I was a bit disappointed with it though, we haven’t eaten there for a while and its looking a little tired and grubby. Kind of wished we had chosen somewhere else but never mind. We all enjoyed our lunch πŸ™‚

We continued to have a wander round and then Wayne took D and C to the Fitzwilliam Museum and I went with the 4 girls window shopping πŸ™‚ They all get along so well together πŸ™‚ We got back to our agreed meeting place to find only C had made it back! He had got separated from Wayne and D and so left the museum. After a quick phone call it transpired that Wayne had gone back into the museum to look for C but I am pleased to say we were all reunited a short while later πŸ™‚ Back home we chatted more and the girls played on the wii.

They had very kindly invited Poppy to join them in London for the next couple of days but she wasn’t quite ready for that and we had plans for Tuesday and Wednesday and so Monday morning we said our good-byes and waved them off.

We had a great weekend, they really are a lovely family and we are very much looking forward to F staying with us πŸ™‚
