A quick post

Monday we had a day at home, Poppy worked through another 2 chapters of Letts GCSE Geography, its a very straightforward, possibly boring text book but its something both girls can work through with very little guidance or help from me.ย  Skye did some self portrait photos and blogged a very inspiring, beautiful post.

We had a walk and the girls spent the afternoon experimenting with Windows Movie Maker.

Tuesday morning the girls carried on working with Movie Maker until it was time to go to the first of 3 Animation Workshops.ย  I loved that Poppy’s confidence is growing and she was happy for me to sit in the cafe catching up with friends whilst she went into the Workshop with Skye and some other friends and even made new friends ๐Ÿ™‚ย  This session they made a short animated movie and worked in small groups or individually to begin creating a storyboard and plasticine characters which they will continue at the next session.ย  Both girls really enjoyed it and are looking forward to the next one ๐Ÿ™‚

Tuesday evening Skye had Explorers and they were told that they are working towards their Platinum Award which she is quite excited about.ย  I had enquired about her taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh Award as an independent candidate but it would appear she may not need to do that ๐Ÿ™‚

Poppy and I watched the final of the Great British Bake Off ๐Ÿ™‚

Ooo, is it the study guide or revision guide re the Letts GCSE geography book? Saurus is using the edexcel igcse geography book at the mo which is great, but am always on the lookout for other good resources!

Ah, my mistake, its the Letts Geography KS3 Classbook. It is a good text book, a chapter per double page spread. You read the text and then answer the questions, generally 4 to a page and you can usually find all the answers within the text. There is also a summary activity box at the end of each chapter along with keywords. They are both whizzing through it, admittedly not doing all the summary activities but I am not too worried about it as long as they understand each chapter.
