Other things that have happened

Last Saturday we had to be up and out early to drop Skye at an Animation workshop in Cambridge. There were six workshops in all and unfortunately we didn’t find out about them in time for Skye to get on to the Photography or Textile ones which would have been her preference. However, she had a great time and it was good to see other home edders there πŸ™‚

Videos of their animations have been uploaded onto their website you can see Skye’s here – Invasion Fail πŸ™‚

The girls made a start on making some Christmas cards. We are trying to get things made so we can have a stall at the local Christmas Craft Fair at the end of November (hopefully) but we have so much crafting to do I am not sure we will actually do it this year 😦

Whilst crafting we listened to Michel Thomas French. We collectively decided that we really really want to learn a language and our ever changing travel plans might be to do a long tour of France. I am not too concerned about the written aspect but would really like to be able to speak it.

Skye read some poetry and looked up some poetry on the internet and read various poems to Poppy and I. We liked the nonsense ones πŸ™‚

There has been a fair amount of sketching. Skye has created a whole set of fantastic characters but has asked me not to post them on here yet as she is hoping to do something with them πŸ™‚

Girls had Arts Award on Friday but we had to throw their art away not so much because it wasn’t right, more that it was messy. It was a sort of experimental mixed media involving acrylics and shaving foam which can sometimes work out and other times not. This was one of those days :/ I did manage to get a picture of Skye’s before it was ‘recycled’ but Poppy’s was apparently in a bad way even before it got to the car! Oh well, hopefully they learned something from that – probably that they are never ever going to do that again!! There was some good though, Poppy was happy for Wayne to go off shopping whilst she stayed at Arts Award which was quite a milestone πŸ™‚

Saturday we had a fairly quiet day, popped into town for a few bits and the girls each spent some of their pocket money on a new jumper each πŸ™‚ After lunch we went to Mum and Dad’s as my sister was visiting. Home for tea and settled down to watch Merlin πŸ™‚

Sunday Wayne was up and about early (probably had something to do with falling asleep downstairs and the clocks changing) and had done various ‘chores’ before I was even awake πŸ™‚ Unloading dishwasher, sweeping floors, feeding animals and making tea – failed to bring it to me upstairs but never mind πŸ˜‰ I got up, showered and dressed. Wayne and I prepared veg for dinner. Not quite sure what the girls were up to, upstairs singing I think πŸ™‚

After dinner we met the Barts and the Manor Borns to go on a Treasure Trail. I had never heard of them before, it was great fun, we managed to find all the clues and decipher the activation code. Its a great way to get outdoors and learn some local history at the same time πŸ™‚
